Cast Violon was designed by Yoshigahara Nobuyuki, commonly known as Nob. Nob was one of Japans' most well-known and celebrated inventor of puzzles. Despite having a successful career in high polymer engineering, Nob quit to become a high school teacher of chemistry & mathematics and an avid puzzle inventor and columnist. This puzzle was originally created by Joseph L Litle and patented in America in 1965. Nob got the idea to make this puzzle when Tadao Muroi, Nob's close friend, built a wooden copy of this puzzle for him.
